Hey there, fellow pet lovers! Tony and I have been on quite the journey with our goldendoodles, Penny and Jabba. Same dog breed but different tummy’s. Penny can’t handle anything with chicken and love the veggies, while Jabba would rather starve than eat a carrot.

Dogs are curious creatures, especially when it comes to food. They can be relentless beggars, hoping to snag a bite of whatever deliciousness we’re indulging in. But as cute as they are, it’s essential to remember that not all human food is safe for our furry friends.

Today, I want to share a crucial topic: the toxic food guide for pets. This list will help you avoid any accidental toxic exposure to your four-legged companions. After all, we want our pups to stay happy and healthy!

#Toxic Foods to Avoid

1. Chocolate: This is a big one! Chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs. Even small amounts can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and in severe cases, seizures or death.

2. Grapes and Raisins: These seemingly harmless snacks can cause kidney failure in dogs. Just a small amount can lead to serious health issues, so it's best to keep them far away from your pup.

3. Onions and Garlic: Both of these can damage a dog’s red blood cells, leading to anemia. Even small amounts can be harmful, so it's best to avoid them entirely.

4. Avocado: While we love guacamole, (Tony - not me) avocados contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea in dogs.

5. Macadamia Nuts: These nuts can lead to weakness, depression, vomiting and tremors in dogs. Just a handful can cause issues, so keep those cookies out of reach!

6. Xylitol: This sugar substitute is found in many sugar-free products and can cause a rapid insulin release in dogs, leading to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This can be life-threatening, so be cautious!

7. Alcohol: Even small amounts can be dangerous for dogs, leading to vomiting, diarrhea and even coma or death.

8. Caffeine: Like chocolate, caffeine is a stimulant that can be toxic to dogs. It can lead to restlessness, rapid breathing, and heart palpitations.

9. Cooked Bones: While raw bones can be safe, cooked bones can splinter and cause blockages or tears in your dog's digestive tract.

10. Dairy Products: Many dogs are lactose intolerant which means dairy can lead to upset stomachs and diarrhea.

#Homemade AWSOME Dog Treat Recipe: Peanut Butter Banana Bites

Now that we’ve covered what to avoid, let’s treat our pups to something delicious and safe! Here’s a simple recipe for peanut butter banana bites that Jabba and Penny absolutely love.

**Ingredients**:

- 1 ripe banana

- 1/2 cup peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol-free!)

- 1 cup rolled oats

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe banana with a fork.

3. Add the peanut butter and rolled oats to the bowl and mix until well combined.

4. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

5. Bake for about 15 minutes or until they’re golden brown.

6. Let them cool completely before serving them to your furry friends.

These treats are not only easy to make but also a hit with both Penny and Jabba!

So there you have it! A guide to keep your pups safe from toxic foods, some great healthy recommendations and a tasty treat recipe.

Remember, our pets rely on us to keep them healthy, so let’s be mindful of what we share with them. Happy feeding! 🐾❤️
